African development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Designing participatory training to win both minds and hearts

Reading through other posts in this group, we are lined up for what I am am sure will be a truly inspiring exchange of learning at the SBCC Summit.

I hope to add to the melting pot some out-of-the-box ideas and perspectives in an experiential Skills Building Workshop on "Designing participatory training to win both minds and hearts" and also a Comms Talk titled “Do you feel what I mean?”   These will integrate some ancient Confucian wisdom around multi-sensory, experiential leaning with some contemporary perspectives such as Daniel Khaneman's System 1/System 2 thinking.

Hope to see you there

Peter

We used the partiipatory approach when reaching out to marginalised communities in postconflict regions in Uganda. I should say it is a really effective method since it gives the target group a sense of ownership of a given project. This sense of ownership is vital in enouraging continuity of a project within a given community even after its official closure by its implemetors.

I express my great pleasure to be selected for an oral presentation of my abstract titled 'Changing Attitudes and Perceptions of Community Correspondents: Lessons from Video Volunteers' IndiaUnheard Program'. It is that time of the year when I would be able to tell the whole world how Video Volunteers is creating spaces for change not only at the individual level but also at the community level. Nusa Dua is going to have an exciting informational session with a twist of edutainment at the 2nd SBCC Summit being organised by JHU-CCP.

Hope to see you all.

Planning to get a participatory exchange of information, then here's a chance to do that and plan your expedition to the scenic beauty of Indonesia. Fly to Bali for a much needed getaway, and register for the SBCC Summit to convert it into a productive vacation.

See you in Bali, Amigos!

Changer les attitudes et perceptions des communautés par une communicatin de changement de comportement est une très belle initiative de développement social qui mérite d'être discutée, partagée et enrichie par de nouvelles idées au SBCC 2018 à Nusa Dua.
