Soul City Institute Communication Resources

The Soul City Institute for Social Justice (formerly known as Soul City Institute for Health and Development Communication) uses a combination of mass media, social mobilisation, and advocacy to improve the quality of life and health of people in Southern Africa. Since the organisation was established in 1992, they have been producing communication materials to support their many communication projects, which include: the Soul City edutainment television series, which tackled a range of social and health issues; the Soul Buddyz Clubs, which seek to empower children to become active citizens; Phuzawise, which tackled alcohol; and OneLove, an HIV prevention campaign that tackled multiple concurrent partnerships.
Communication materials that were produced to support these initiatives are now being made available online and include educational booklets, magazines, and manuals. Topics include:
- Alcohol
- Edutainment
- Finance
- HIV Prevention
- HIV Treatment
- Maternal, Child & Women’s Health
- Non-Communicable Diseases - such as depression, smoking, and high blood pressure
- Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights
- Tuberculosis
- Violence
- Materials related to specific projects such as Kwanda, OneLove, and Rise Young Women’s Clubs.
