African development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Temple University Project

Hi CI Team,

I have been working on the Temple University contract this month researching and writing up 20 key Masters courses in C4d from around the world.   They are similar to what we used to have on the site with a little more detail related to academic staff, faculty publications and core teaching materials.  Been a bit difficult in some cases to get the necessary information but I am getting there.

Dear Anja,

Thanks for the update on the Temple University project. I would imagine that it could indeed be difficult to get all the information you need. Look forward to reading the fruits of your research. I'm wondering what will happen once these descriptions are posted on the site. Will they be placed in the Universities template - which I know is problematic/missing things based on what I think was a problematic migration? Or will there be a new section and/or will they be coded in the back end in some way to make them searchable? Would it be helpful if I considered doing a Drum Beat featuring the 20 profiles?

Hmmm...my comment on Anja's group news post, which I created at 9:51 a.m. my time, is still pending some kind of approval, but Dee's reply to my comment, which she created at 1:14 p.m. my time went right through. Did I do something wrong, or who is approving these things and when? Same thing happened here - https://www.comminit.com/content/open-knowledge-hub-and-soul-beat-africa - I wrote a comment hours ago, but it was never approved/published, but then Dee's reply to my comment seems to have gone through. Please advise?

Hi Kier

Thanks for your questions. Yes, the descriptions are going to be in a University template.  We are using what is left of the old one and adapting and expanding it considerably.  I am assuming there will be an actual section and have asked Warren for confirmation.

A Drum Beat is not part of the contract but something one could consider.
