Master Positive
By Kelly Kowalski
From the Summary
"In this upbeat film we follow Simon, affectionately known as "Master Positive" as he strives, through humour and a postitive outlook, to overcome the social and personal consequences of living with HIV. In a dusty Namibian township, Simon and a group of HIV positive Namibians are making low-cost papier mache coffins to make a living and serve their community. Simon refers humorously to the virus as Master Aids. 'Today I call him Master Aids because he is my friend, because I carry him with me. He understands me.'
According to Simon, positive living is about not thinking too much about what you have and your problems. So, with the help of The Catholic Aids centre, he gets on with the business of making coffins, which for him is a job like any other. At the end of the film Master Positive talks directly to camera with a personal message for those with HIV/AIDS. He encourages everyone to talk about the problem of AIDS."
