African development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Legislation on Media, Speech and Expression in Ghana

SummaryText
This resource book provides information about Ghana's laws pertaining to media and freedom of expression. The book includes an introduction to Ghana's media laws and the texts of almost 200 laws and regulations.

This book is published by the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), an organisation that has been working to establish a network of lawyers in the West African region to lobby for media law reform. MFWA is a regional independent, non-profit, non-governmental organisation that was established in 1997 to defend and promote the rights and freedoms of the media, and generally, to help expand the boundaries of freedom of speech and expression in West Africa.

The publishers hope that this publication will help people understand laws that have been historically enacted to silence those who speak their minds.
