African development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Key policy makers etc - your support for comms strategy please

Hi - one of the key priorities for the SBCC What Works? Summit is that we are not just "talking amongst ourselves" as the cliche goes. Events such as the Summit provide an opportunity to reach out and engage people outside of our normal orbit, Priorities would incude national, regional and global policy makers, government officials, funders, researchers, technical experts in other areas and think-tank folks who are outside the social and behaviour change, communication and media development perspective and strategic approach.

In order to achieve this the Communications sub-group needs your help. Please!

The strategy will be to identify who those people are; identify their social media presence; like, follow, request a link to etc (all social media platforms have different processes) their social media processes; and hope that they then return the favour and follow, like, request a link, etc to our platforms. Then they are in the loop of their own volition.

Our request to you is to help us identify whom we should be identifying for the strategy above? Could you please send us 10 to 20 names of people you regard as key overall policy makes, funders, government (political or civil service), researchers, think-tank people, techncial experts in other areas with whom we should seek to implement the strategy above? Just reply to this email or open the links above or below the content of this post and comment online.

Thanks - most happy to answer any questions or points of clarification.
