After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.
 
Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.
 
We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

African Women's Development and Communication Network (FEMNET) Internship

The African Women's Development and Communication Network (FEMNET) is offering an internship as part of their capacity building programme. It is open to female students (both local and international) and to those who have just completed their studies and are looking for experience and mentorship in the area of African women's human rights, gender mainstreaming, African feminist movements, and communications.

The interns will work under the supervision and guidance of the programme officer in charge of a specific programme for a minimum period of 3 months and maximum period of 6 months. The interns are expected to agree with the programme officer on the terms of reference for the internship, taking into account both FEMNET's interest and the intern's interest.

Each intern is expected to produce a report at the end of their internship period. This report should include activities undertaken during the internship period, key achievements, lessons learnt, and recommendations. Any reports and/or publications developed during the internship period shall be the property of FEMNET.
