African development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

SummaryText
The Voices for a Malaria Free Future project advocates in malaria endemic countries, globally and in the United States, to increase political commitment, mobilise resources, and ensure continued funding for malaria control. With projects in Ghana, Mali, Tanzania, and Uganda, Voices strives to improve access to malaria control interventions by promoting appropriate resource allocation and resolving bottlenecks to malaria commodities. Voices also strengthens national advocacy in donor and malaria endemic countries through inspiring leadership and facilitating collaboration among stakeholders. Voices is also a founding partner in the United Against Malaria campaign leading up to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, with Voices country programmes providing a vital link to endemic leadership at the national, district and community levels.
Publications and materials include a pamphlet (in English and French) on treatment called "Artemisinin Based Combination Therapies: The New Malaria Treatment", posters, and drawings to help educate the public and raise awareness about malaria prevention and treatment.
