Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) Toolkit: Implementation Support for Program Managers
Image

SummaryText
This toolkit was developed to help Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) programme managers to understand, plan, and implement IRS campaigns to prevent malaria. Produced by the Malaria Control and Evaluation Partnership in Africa (MACEPA) and PATH, and published on the Roll Back Malaria website, the toolkit is intended to provide guidance, templates, and models to support IRS campaigns, as well as the enumeration of households to be sprayed. The tools were developed with contributions from a range of partners and based on MACEPA’s experiences with IRS implementation in several countries.
The toolkit offers a range of tools, including a sample timeline and a budget template, which are provided as illustrative examples that can be used as a basis for planning and implementing IRS campaigns. The toolkit also includes detailed procurement guidance for PDAs and other procurements reflected in the workplan. As Information, education, and communication (IEC) are considered critical for IRS campaigns, sample IEC materials are included as guidance for developing an IRS communications strategy and to help programmes think through their communications approaches. Some sample IEC communications are provided and several reference documents are included to provide further background in IRS implementation.
