African development action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Grammar Rules

Hi - just read this - thought it was interesting: Wait … is that a rule? Ten everyday grammar mistakes you might be making I think I make these mistakes all the time! Your thoughts? (on the article not my writing!) - Warren

Thanks for sharing, Warren. Being someone who lives and breathes grammar, I love this and got a chuckle out of it. I think I'm mostly only guilty of two of the mistakes: sometimes over-correcting and often using "amongst". That is to say: I wouldn't be surprised if someone accused me of being a pedant when the "eagle eye" is turned on!

Hi,

Nice article and interesting to read that in many cases grammar choices are not based on rules, but styles.  i don't always get the difference between "which" and "that".   Kier still has the best eagle eyes in the team - rather a pedant than not.
